Color Play – Staffa Island

October 15, 2011

I love color.  Playing with palettes is one of my favorite things to do.  I’m constantly finding myself admiring beautiful photos not for the actual subject or content, but for the color combinations.

Off the coast of Scotland floats Staffa Island.  The stunning rock formations are naturally formed.  The Colonnade is it’s most famous feature, I’m drawn sweeping motion of the rock face in the top photo.  But of course this post is about color…  I love mustard.  Especially in autumn.  Paired with slate gray and aqua it takes on a totally unique character.

A great tool for quick color palette is Sherwin Williams’ ‘Color Snap’ app for smartphones =)

The interactive web agency I work for designed and created it. I think you would find it handy dandy if you have a smart phone.

Or there’s the ‘Color Visualizer’ for the computer =)

What did you use for this? Had you picked out the colors yourself, and added the colors at the bottom yourself?

I’ll totally have to look for that app on Jared’s phone. I’ve seen it, but had forgotten. Maybe we did download it at some point actually…. can’t remember.

And yes! I selected the colors and used my handy adobe products to do the rest.

Much love Katie!! Thanks for the resources.
