Small Town Tourist – Delaware, Ohio

June 30, 2012

Downtown Delaware, Ohio

The outskirts of Columbus are riddled with colleges and universities most often tucked in a quaint town. Delaware, Ohio is no exception, however after spending just a few hours there you begin to realize that it’s more than just a college town. The population is a healthy mix of students and locals, both working together to create an authentic community. Here are my recommendations:

Beehive Book Store and Antique Shop in Downtown Delaware, Ohio

Shoppes
Beehive Books – enjoy a coffee and a book on one of their cozy sofa chairs
Captain Betty’s – the lady that runs Captain Betty’s is incredibly glamourous and will help you be too
Antique shoppes on Sandusky Street – Easy to spot, and easy to get lost in

Food
Amatos Wood Fired Pizza – great pizza and a great patio
1808 American Bistro – we did not eat here during our visit but I’ve heard from severals since that it is blog-worthy
Rocky’s Ice – Holy crap, did I find something that I like more than ice cream?!

To do
The Arts Castle – gallery and community art studio
Perkins Observatory
Alum Creek State Park

Accommodations
The Winter Street Inn

Rocky's Ice and Alum Creek

This Small Town Tourist post required a roadtrip. You can find the behind the scenes details on my tinylittlelife blog.
